Villa Du Ocean

Very bad experience. Their rooms look pretty only on the website. We had booked a room a month in advance, by looking at the website, a handful of positive reviews, and on my friend's recommendation. However, our experience was totally opposite of what we had in mind. We have stayed in all sorts of stays in different parts of India but this was a total no-go, especially for the price they charge. Despite booking a month prior, we got to hear from the receptionist "We do not have rooms available right now. We will accommodate you in a basic room tonight and tomorrow we will shift you to another room." The room they showed as "basic" did not even have the most basic thing: cleanliness. It seemed like they opened that room after ages; it had leakages, cobwebs, and a bad bad sting. They were not ready to commit to an upgrade the next day, not agreeing to refund when we decided to cancel our booking, or give us some assurance of providing a better room. The room's window opened into their restaurant's kitchen! It had no balcony. Linens seemed to be not changed for years. There was absolutely no network in the room, no light, no ventilation. We decided to chuck it and save our anniversary day and night by booking with The Promenade. They boast their about prime location, but Pondicherry is quite small in itself and there are 1000 times better stays around. Not at all recommended.

Very nice place, centre of the town, easy to access and explore all restaurants, beach, temples and churches. Room is very good with access to swimming pool. An affordable and classy looking place. The bathrooms have 24*7 hot water, very good and clean. Roof top restaurant is very good, complimentary breakfast is decent. The down side is there's no car parking. Only street parking at owner's risk.There are paid parking spaces nearby. Service is good.

We spent 2 nights at Villa Du Ocean in October. The staff was quite accommodating in terms of our check in and check out timings. The room was quite spacious and we liked the heritage - home feel of the furniture and the floor tiles. However the washroom could perhaps use a deep cleaning as the tiles seemed murky. We got a bath towel with a stain which dimmed the vibe. The switches in the room are also confusing, we had to use multiple switches to get the fan to work The location of this place is excellent and within walking distance to most of the places we wanted to visit in white town and is also very close to the promenade beach.

My recent stay at Villa du Ocean was nothing short of disappointing. The first red flag was the noticeable dampness in my room, making the entire experience unpleasant and far from the comfortable stay I had hoped for. The room emitted a persistent and unpleasant odor, likely exacerbated by the leakage issue. Despite bringing this to the attention of the staff, there was a lack of urgency in addressing the problem.Throughout the entire night, the rain poured heavily, and to my dismay, water began seeping into the room, creating an uncomfortable and unsanitary living environment. The hotel's inability to withstand a night of rain is inexcusable. The lack of attention to maintenance and the apparent neglect of the property left me questioning the overall management and commitment to guest satisfaction. In summary, my experience at Villa Du Ocean was regrettable, and I would strongly advise against choosing this establishment for your stay. The leakage and smell issues significantly marred my visit, making it a forgettable and unsatisfactory experience.

Great place located right at the center of the French Colony. Lot of important places are just a walk away which is super convenient. The staff are super friendly and do a great job overall. The pool is superb too with a very kid friendly section as well. Our 2 year old had such a fun time there. Have just one suggestion to improve: pls improve the buffet breakfast, it's not good. Otherwise this is a dream place and highly recommended.

Good rooms . We took the super deluxe . A bit old fashioned . Nothing on the balcony . Just for namesake . Adjacent to the building . They charge double for the water bottle. Complimentary 2 litres are given per day . The swimming pool view is good but too much chlorine in the water . Decent free breakfast.. The pics are as shown in the website . Walkable from rock beach . Good place to stay

Absolutely dingy hotel, stay away. Do not go by the photos on websites. We booked a deluxe room 1 month in advance and when we showed up, they did not have any rooms available. They had the audacity to say this, and offered a third class, pathetic room on the ground or first floor. The rooms windows and doors opened into a neighbouring wall and sewage. To top it, when asked for cancellation, they did not refund any of the amount. Please stay away from these nightmarish hotels that basically run a shady lodge. PS: We booked for 2 nights later at "The Promenade", a little expensive, but saved our anniversary day.
